- First of all, I believe Juggler is also not using MUI, but it's not
- done yet (I think...). Anyways, why do so many people dislike MUI?
- First, there are the obvious reasons, it's not as quick as something that
- doesn't use it, and, possibly most importantly, it's bulky. Now, take
- these two factors, and consider that they're shipping it with an A1200
- with only 2 megs of CHIP, and you'll see that it will suffer from speed
- and memory problems.
- There have also been claims of it being buggy, but I really don't know
- about that one. I'm sure just mentioning this will spark countless flame
- wars, but that is why some people don't like it as well.
-
- There's probably other reasons. I think it's a bad idea for AT to
- endorse MUI at all, as I believe that alot of the ideas in MUI should be
- incorporated into intuition and gadtools directly. Now, we have a 3rd
- party developed, highly kludgy inteface system slowly becoming standard.
- If it becomes accepted by other commercial developers, AT might not see a
- reason to improve intuition/gadtools. I know current intuition and
- gadtools kinda sucks right now, but we have to stick with them, and
- hopefully they will be improved with the next OS release.
- See, the problem is this: What if the new intuition.library and
- gadtools.library support all the features of MUI? That'll be great,
- except, since so many programs have been written for MUI, you'll still
- have to keep MUI around. And how about all those other interface
- libraries. So, I don't like to use MUI. I refuse to develope anything
- that uses MUI, I'd rather put some more effort into the GUI, and use
- gadtools.

- That's fine... I just wish AT didn't support MUI. That's my main
- consern.
